Scientific biography

Sylvain FISSON is Professor of Immunology at the Evry/Paris-Saclay University. With a solid background in immunology and neuroimmunology, he created the French Club of Neuroimmunology in 2009, which he chaired for 9 years. He has developed expertise in ocular and cerebral immune responses in the context of autoimmunity (eg. uveitis, EAE) and tumor immunology (eg. Primary Central Nervous System Lymphomas). He has contributed to the development of innovative diagnostic (multiplex cytokine measurements) and therapeutic (new glycoengineered anti-CD20 mAb ; cultured Ag-specific nTreg cells) tools (3 patents). Sylvain FISSON is now heading an international Bachelor and Master program in Life Sciences and Health, and is dedicating his research time to the characterization and understanding of the immune consequences following intraocular gene transfer, with the aim to prevent adverse effects in the context of gene therapy
