Description
Glaucoma is an eye condition associated with damage of the optic nerve that connects the eye to the brain. Unless treated early, glaucoma progresses and can lead to vision loss. The mission of the EGRET-AAA project, which is funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, is to develop innovative treatments for glaucoma. The consortium offers a joint doctorate programme for early-stage researchers to investigate gene therapy and stem cell-based approaches for glaucoma using organoid technology. EGRET-AAA findings will improve the quality of life for millions of sufferers worldwide and reduce the socioeconomic burden of the disease.
